VontosEvidence of Learning

For schools

Your school answers to a regulator. Your teaching doesn't have to.

Every school that files forms eventually starts teaching toward them. Vontos records what learning actually looks like in your school — observed, rated, attested by your own teachers — and produces the regulator's paper as a printout of that record, not the point of it.

How it works

The truth is recorded once. Everything else is a projection.

Every observation is kept at full resolution — who saw what, when, against which outcome, at which level. Forms, report cards, and growth views are all computed from that one record. When the regulator changes the form, the form changes. Your record doesn't.

A school year on Vontos

Seven movements, in the order your year already runs.

01

Set up

Encode what growth looks like in your school. Adopt a canonical framework from the registry — the Revised ALS Curriculum's structure is already there — or author your own. Outcomes, then indicators you can observe, then milestones and rubrics.

02

Bring people in

Enrollment with consent built in, custody handled properly for minors. An entry assessment places each learner by readiness in each area — not by birth year. A fourteen-year-old can be ahead in one strand and beginning in another, and that's fine.

Plan

Map the term's activities to the indicators they serve, so every session knows what it's evidence of. Each learner carries a plan, and every version of it is kept.

04

Teach & capture

The moment that decides everything. A rating lands in seconds, on the teacher's own phone, mid-class — structured context rides along automatically. No signal in the room? It saves offline and syncs when the signal returns. Capture never interrupts teaching.

A CAPTURE, START TO FINISH, UNDER 30 SECONDS

05

Review & steer

Portfolio evaluations with written feedback, on a cadence the system keeps for you. When a learner shows readiness, they move — mid-cycle, in that area. Nobody waits for June.

Prove & report

The forms your registrar files, generated from the record — print-faithful, down to the layout. We build to a simple bar — the person who files them can't tell ours from the one they used to type by hand. Compliance becomes a printout, not a project.

GRADES EXIST ONLY HERE — AT THE COMPLIANCE BOUNDARY

07

Close & carry forward

The cycle closes and the paperwork with it. Each learner's record moves forward with them — attested evidence doesn't reset in June, and it doesn't stay behind when they leave.

Our hard limits

Teacher adoption dies on friction, so we hold ourselves to numbers.

30sec

Median time to record an assessment — the limit we hold on teachers' real phones, not ours.

3taps

From home screen to a rating. If it takes more, that's our bug.

0signal

Capture works offline and syncs later. A classroom with no signal is normal, not an error.

These are standing limits we hold every cycle with the schools that use Vontos. When one breaks, fixing it outranks building anything new.

By design

What we deliberately don't do.

No AI grades anyone

A person attests every rating. The roll-up is disclosed arithmetic — recent evidence outweighs old — and any number can be opened to show exactly which observations produced it.

No rankings

A learner sees their own growth against their own past. Never a class ranking, never a comparison with a sibling or seatmate.

No failing state

The latest evidence always outweighs the past, so a rough quarter is a position on a progression, not a verdict. The record's message is keep working — structurally.

No quiet lock-in

Your records export completely, any time. And your existing system stays authoritative until you — not we — decide otherwise.

How adoption works

We run beside your current records before we run anything.

STEP 1

Run in parallel

Vontos runs a full reporting cycle in shadow. Your existing records stay authoritative the whole time.

STEP 2

Reconcile

At cycle's end, compare our outputs against yours — form by form, with the person who actually files them.

STEP 3

You decide

Switch over only when your own reconciliation says so. Until then we are the second system, happily.

"System of record" is a status a school grants. It is never one we claim.

Talk to us

No demo theater. No early-access list.

Write to us about your school — what you teach, who you answer to, and what the paperwork costs you today. We read everything and reply ourselves.

Start a conversation

Learned to assess with evidence at your college? If you trained on evidence-based assessment and your school still runs on grade books, this is the same door. Write to us — bringing the practice with you is exactly how this is supposed to spread.
